Carla Srebot

I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the Vancouver School of Economics, University of British Columbia, and a PhD Fellow at the Stone Centre on Wealth and Income Inequality.

I am on the 2026–2027 job market.

My research focuses on labor markets and inequality, with an emphasis on informality, gender, and job amenities. My job market paper studies why informality persists by separating the availability of formal employment from workers’ decisions to formalize. I show that most workers formalize when given the opportunity, while wages and non-wage amenities shape take-up across workers and workplaces.
